WHEN I GOT OUT is being published by The Story Plant on September 17th, just a week from now, and I’m pretty excited about the whole thing.

The first readers’ reviews have been really good – “This is one of my favorite books of 2019 with skilled writing and clever characters.” … “It was a compelling story and hard for me to put down.” … “It’s written in a way that makes you feel everything really happened…. Detailed, personal, and believable.”

More to come (and my friends haven’t even started contributing their 5-star reviews on Amazon and Goodreads to goose those algorithms – hint-hint.)

Here’s what I have planned:

On Friday, September 20th at 7:00 PM, I’m having a reading/signing/launch party at the estimable BOOK SOUP in West Hollywood. 8818 Sunset Blvd. It’s where I had a reading for WHAT IT WAS LIKE five years ago, and it’s great to be going back there with my stand-alone sequel.

On Saturday, September 21st at 5:00 PM, I’m having a reading/signing/second launch party at FLINTRIDGE BOOKSTORE AND COFFEE SHOP, 1010 Foothill Blvd., La Canada, my local bookstore. I can’t wait for this one: I love my adopted hometown and am happy to support and be supported by our only bookstore.

And I’ll be doing interviews:

On September 11th, I’ll be taping an interview with Steve Richards on his show SPEAKING OF WRITERS on WQBK Radio 103.9, Albany New York. I’m not sure when it will air, but in any case, it will be available on the website speakingofwriters.com.

On Thursday, September 19th, I’ll be an in-studio guest on SAM IN THE MORNING on latalkradio.com from 10-11 AM (PT).

On Monday, September 23rd, I’ll be taping a podcast for DRINKS WITH TONY, Tony DuShane’s podcast for and about writers.

On Thursday, September 26th, I’ll be taping an interview for JOY ON PAPER, Patzi Gil’s program about writers that’s heard on 47 stations around the country.

On Monday, September 30th, I’ll be a phone-in guest on LARRY AND ROBIN LIVE on WOCA-AM 1370 in Ocala, Fl., a little after 11:00 AM(ET).

In October, I’ll be a guest of Barb Adams on barbadamslive.com

I’m proud of WHEN I GOT OUT and will do (almost) anything to get the word out. There are thousands of books published every week, so I have to do what I can to get a little spotlight shined on mine.

And people seem to like it. Thank goodness.
